Study shows only 1 in 4 American men likely to be screened for osteoporosis

A study out of North Shore-LIJ Health System in New Hyde Park, N.Y has shown that only 1 in 4 men indicated that they would get screened for osteoporosis if it was offered to them.

Osteoporosis is a big problem worldwide for both men and women. Around 250,000 men in Australia have osteoporosis and this is expected to increase. Osteoporosis is often seen as a woman’s disease but men suffer too.  Men account for 30% of all fractures that occur in people over 50, it important that both men and women with risk factors be screened for osteoporosis.
