National Strategic Action Plan for Osteoporosis (2019)
National Action Plan was developed with key stakeholders across Australia and launched by the Federal Minister for Health in October 2019.
The Plan outlines 3 key priority areas to address the need for a national strategic response to the challenges and burden of osteoporosis in Australia.
Building strong bones for a life without fractures.
To reduce the incidence of osteoporosis and osteoporotic fractures.
Osteoporosis Australia aims to improve awareness about the disease in the Australian community and reduce fractures. Osteoporosis Australia focuses on the following key objectives:
- Increase awareness throughout Australia and promote better management of osteoporosis
- Encourage prevention
- Improve GP and other health professionals understanding of osteoporosis
- Act as an effective lobby voice in federal Government
- Fund bone related research
