Google mapping for the body

The same technology that has been used by Google to map the world can now be used to map the human body. "This is the first Google Maps of the human body," said UNSW biomedical engineer Professor Knothe Tate, who presented the new technology at the Orthopedic Research Society meeting in Las Vegas on Sunday.

The technology will allow researchers and clinicians to view, for example, a bone before zooming down into an individual cell in that tissue. "This could open the door to as yet unknown new therapies and preventions," said Professor Knothe Tate.
