Professor Sambrook OAM was the inaugural Medical Director of Osteoporosis Australia and past President of the Australian and New Zealand Bone and Mineral Society. He made an immense contribution to research and public awareness about bone health and osteoporosis in Australia and benefits from his commitment and passion for will be felt for years to come.

The OA-ANZBMS Research Fund will seek applications for the 2013 Award from 1st of April.

RACGP / Osteoporosis Australia Bone Health Research Grant now open

The Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) Foundation is offering a total of 20 research grants and awards to general practitioners (GPs) and general practice registrars who are members of the RACGP. This includes:

The joint RACGP/Osteoporosis Australia Bone Health Research Grant ($30,000). This grant is an investment to improving the bone health of all Australians, which will be achieved through the provision of research funding, the creation of educational tools to influence and assist primary care providers of osteoporosis and the promotion of bone health amongst the Australian community.

Application forms are available from the RACGP Foundation website and must be received by 6 May 2013, 5.00 pm, AEST.

Amgen Australia and GSK Australia are proud to announce the second year of the Osteoporosis Australia-ANZBMS Clinical Grants Program.

This program has been established to support projects that:

  • Evaluate the quality use f medicines in the treatment of osteoporosis; or
  • Advance the diagnosis or management of patients with osteoporosis.

IOF-Servier Young Investigator Research Grant 2013

International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF)-Servier Young Investigator Research Grant now open

The IOF-Servier Young Investigator Research Grant aims specifically at encouraging young scientists to carry out high quality research. The grant is generously supported by the Servier Research group in partnership with IOF, and awards 40,000 EUR towards original research of significant value and international relevance in the field of osteoporosis. Consistent with IOF's objectives, the project must contribute to ensuring that osteoporosis sufferers receive the best care possible.

Deadlines for applications is November 15, 2013.

The 2014 IOF-Servier Young Investigator Award will be announced at the European Congress on Osteoporosis & Osteoarthritis (IOF-ESCEO-WCO SEVILLE 2014), April 2-4, 2014 in Sevilla, Spain.
